Followed a forum tip to reflow an Xbox 360 GPU, it worked for 6 weeks

Last month someone on here said to use a heat gun on the GPU for exactly 45 seconds then press down on the chip with a spoon handle. I tried it on my old Xbox 360 that had red ringed, and it booted up fine until Tuesday when it died again. Did that method ever actually last for anyone, or is this just a temporary trick that keeps failing?

Ha! Mine lasted 3 days before the heat gun melted my coffee table.
