Lost my passport in Osaka and the 7-Eleven clerk saved my trip

I was in Osaka for a 3 week work trip and realized my passport slipped out of my backpack at a noodle shop near Dotonbori. Panic set in because my next flight to Chiang Mai was in 48 hours and I had client files on my laptop that needed a stable setup. I retraced my steps for 2 hours, asking shop staff in broken Japanese, and one clerk at a 7-Eleven pointed me to the lost and found bin they keep behind the counter. Someone had turned it in with all my cards still inside, and I nearly cried on the spot. I now keep a photocopy of my passport in my phone case and a tracker tag in my wallet, but honestly the kindness was the real lesson. Anyone else had a stranger save their trip like that?

Ngl that story hit me right in the feels. I had a similar moment in Bangkok where my wallet fell out of my pocket on a crowded bus and a street vendor chased me two blocks to hand it back with every baht still in it. I was so convinced it was gone forever that I almost didn't believe her at first. It's wild how these tiny moments of trust can completely flip your whole trip around.
