The gallery wall I mocked came back to haunt me last Friday
Three years ago I rolled my eyes at a local show in Portland where every piece was printed on raw plywood with visible screw holes. I told the artist it looked like a hardware store explosion. Last week I was hanging my own digital prints for a group exhibit and realized my clean white frames made everything look like a dentist's office. The plywood pieces got all the attention while mine got polite nods. I spent Saturday sanding scrap timber and mounting my work on it with exposed hardware. The irony is not lost on me. Has anyone else had a style they rejected come back as the obvious answer?

Buddy swore off thrift store art for years, now his whole studio is garage sale finds.

His whole studio" though? That's wild. I mean, I get grabbing a cool frame or two, but a whole studio? Last time I checked, garage sale art is mostly dusty landscapes and those weird clown paintings nobody wants. Did he actually find good stuff, or is he just surrounded by old pizza trophies and framed cats now?
