One critique that stuck with me from a gallery night in Austin
Tbh, I was showing a piece at a small gallery event last month and this older painter I'd never met walked up, stared at my work for a solid minute, then just said 'your shadows are lying to you.' I laughed it off at first, but later that night I looked at my piece again and yeah, my light source was all over the place. It hit different because they didn't praise anything or soften it, just pointed at the one real flaw. Has anyone else had a random stranger give feedback that ended up being more useful than a full critique session?
