A collector told me my process shots were 'cheating' and now I'm torn
Last week at a local gallery night in Portland, an older painter saw my WIP slides and said showing the undo history in Procreate takes away the honesty of the craft. He argued that digital artists hide their mistakes while traditional folks leave every mark. I get his point, but isn't the final piece what matters, not the journey? I've been posting speedpaints for 2 years and got 50% more followers after adding them. Do you think showing every layer makes the art less real, or does it just make the process more human? Has anyone else had a traditional artist question their digital workflow?
