Vent: my old shop towel trick got me out of a frozen fuel line in Minnesota
So it was negative 24 in Duluth back in January and a guy called me out to a no start on a 7.3 Powerstroke sitting at a job site. I had no block heater, no torch on the truck, and the thing was gelled solid. I remembered an old timer telling me to pull the fuel filter and dump a bottle of Heet straight in, but the filter housing was frozen shut. So I yanked the filter out of my own truck, poured a cup of hot coffee in a shop towel, and wrapped the fuel bowl with it while I cranked. Weirdest thing, it fired on the fourth try. I still don't fully know why that worked when the heat gun didn't. Anyone else got a dumb backwoods trick that saved your tail on a cold call?
