That 12v ride mower battery in the cold snapped my eyes open
Last month near Albany I had a guy bring in a bobcat that wouldn't crank below 15 degrees, and it wasn't the starter at all. I pulled the battery and load tested it, dropped to 4 volts under strain, while the dash still showed 12.4 resting. Three years ago I'd have swapped the starter and charged him double, but now I always check the battery cable connections first, especially the ground strap to the frame. Anyone else find corroded grounds hiding behind that plastic shroud after a no-start complaint?

Four volts under load but 12.4 resting, that's the silent killer. Corroded ground or bad cell?
