Can we talk about how everybody over-torques injector hold-down bolts?
I had a 6.7 Cummins come in running rough with a fuel knock and the owner swore it was a bad injector, but when I pulled the cover two of the hold-down bolts were stretched and one was half stripped. Guy had cranked them down with a 1/2 inch impact because he read somewhere that tighter means no leaks, but the spec on those is around 44 inch-pounds plus a torque turn, and going past that just warps the hold-down clamp. I've seen this three times this year at my shop in Tulsa and every one of them turned into a $1,200 head job instead of a $40 bolt swap. What torque wrench are you all running for the low stuff, because my old clicker won't read below 20 foot-pounds reliably?
