The clearance tag at my local Kroger in Dayton was $2.99 but the shelf label under it said $11.49
I grabbed a pack of those fancy socks off the clearance endcap last Friday and the tag on the package said $2.99, but the shelf label right under it said $11.49. I asked a guy stocking nearby and he told me stores mark down clearance in waves, and the tag on the item is what scans at the register, not the shelf label. So I walked the whole endcap scanning tags against labels and found 4 more things marked way lower than the shelf said. Took it all to the self checkout and it rang up at the lower prices, no hassle. My haul came to $14 and change for stuff that would've been around $60 at the shelf prices. Now I check every single tag before I leave the aisle. Has anyone else noticed the tag and label disagreeing at their store, or is this just a Dayton thing?
