Spent 12 bucks on a clearance vacuum sealer at a Target in Fort Worth three months ago, and I just realized I've saved way more than that on groceries
Three months back I was killing time in the Target on Hulen Street in Fort Worth and saw a vacuum sealer marked down to $12 from $79 because the box was dented. I almost walked past it thinking I'd never use it, but my wife grabbed it and tossed it in the cart. Fast forward to now and I've probably run 40 or 50 bags through the thing. Every time I smoke a pork butt or find chicken thighs on sale for 99 cents a pound, I portion it out and seal it up instead of letting it sit in a ziplock getting freezer burnt. I did a rough count last Sunday and figure we've tossed maybe $60 worth of old freezer food in the past that we don't anymore, plus the sale meat I stock up on lasts twice as long. The bags themselves are the only real cost and a box of 50 runs about 8 bucks online. My neighbor paid full price for the same model and swears his was worth it too, so maybe the dented box was just dumb luck. Has anyone else had a random clearance buy like this end up paying for itself way faster than expected?
