Got chased out of the old Clearview Mall in Ohio by a guy on a golf cart and now I always check for live security
Two months back I parked behind the old Sears at Clearview Mall in Ohio around 7am thinking the place was totally dead. About 20 minutes in, near the old food court, I heard a golf cart coming and a guy in a security vest started yelling at me to leave. He said the owner still pays for patrols even though 90 percent of the stores are gone, and that he'd already caught 3 people that week. I walked fast, but he followed me all the way to my car writing down my plate. Now I check for fresh tire tracks and any sign of a patrol before I even get out of my car. Has anyone else run into security at a mall that looked completely abandoned?
Getting chased by a golf cart guy at the abandoned food court is a special kind of humiliation. I once got the stink eye from a rent-a-cop at a dead mall just for peeing in the parking lot, so you're not alone. Now I do a full lap before even getting out of my car too, we're basically mall ninjas at this point.
