Drove 2 hours to a dead mall in Syracuse that was already torn down
Headed up to Syracuse on Saturday to check out Shoppingtown Mall because a blog post from 2021 said it was still standing. Got there around 1pm and the whole place was a fenced dirt lot with one lonely parking sign left. I sat in my car for 20 minutes just staring at it. Lesson learned: always call the town clerk before driving 2 hours. How do you all verify a mall is still there before making the trip?

Check Google street view dates before you go, but then look for recent reviews or photos with dates on them, cause street view can be years old too.
