Spent $60 on a 1911 Rand McNally map just to prove my boss wrong about a border

He swore up and down that the map in his dad's attic showed Africa split in a way that never existed, so I found one on eBay for $60 and the thing showed the exact same border he was arguing about, just drawn sloppier. Anyone else ever drop real cash just to settle a map trivia fight?
