Saw a 1950s map of my town and the lake on the east side wasn't there yet. Someone dammed a creek in the early 60s and flooded a whole neighborhood to make it. Neighbors still argue if it was worth it.

Used to think people were just being dramatic about the old neighborhood being gone. Then I saw old photos of the houses underwater during construction. Some family's whole street just disappeared under 40 feet of water. Bet people are still mad about losing their actual homes for a spot to go fishing. Kinda changes how you see the lake now knowing it cost people everything.
