Why does nobody talk about how heavy those tactical backpacks get after 4 hours walking around a city?
I spent last Saturday at the NYC transit museum with my usual 5-pocket messenger bag and my buddy brought this big molle-style pack with all his 'essentials' and by 2pm he was leaning against walls complaining about his shoulders, but he swears it's better organized than my setup, so which is the real trade off between comfort and access when you're actually out all day?

A small, light bag beats any amount of organization when your back starts hurting.

Switched to a frameless 18L daypack and it was a game changer for me. No frame sheet digging into my lower back. Kept it under 6 pounds total with a water bladder and a rain shell, and my back lasted through full day hikes without that ache.
