Overheard someone say their EDC knife was dull because they never used it
This guy at the coffee shop said his $200 blade was basically a butter knife because he only opened packages with scissors. I told him my $30 Opinel cuts apples every day and stays sharp because I actually use the thing. Anyone else find their stuff works better when they stop babying it?

Tools are meant to be used, not admired in a drawer. A knife that sits around gets dull from neglect, not from actual work. That guy probably just wanted validation for his expensive purchase instead of a functional blade.

Oh man, totally. I had this buddy who dropped like $400 on a custom folder and literally never cut anything tougher than an envelope. He'd pull it out at parties just to flip it open and close it. Drove me nuts. My $30 Mora has been through hell and back and still slices just fine because I actually use the thing. A knife that never gets dirty is just a flex, not a tool.
