That time a guy at a meetup told me to stop wasting money on expensive switches

Back in 2019 I was at a local keyboard meetup in Portland and this older guy named Dave looked at my build and said 'you're chasing the wrong thing with those $1.50 switches.' He told me to focus on the plate and case material instead. I brushed him off at first but after 6 months of swapping switches I finally got a polycarbonate plate for my Tofu60 and it made way more difference than any switch I tried. Anyone else get advice from a random person that actually turned out to be right?

Old Dave was right, I spent $80 on switches and still type like a sloth.
