Plate mount vs. gasket mount, is the flex really worth the hassle?
I built my first gasket mount board last week after years of stiff plate mount builds, and honestly I'm torn. The bounce feels nice on the typing test, but I had to shim three spots with tape just to get the sound even, plus it took me an extra hour to line up the standoffs. My old tray mount with a brass plate was way more forgiving when I screwed up the screw holes, and it cost me $60 less in materials. Are we chasing flex for the feel or just because the hype videos say it's better, has anyone else gone back to plate mount after trying the soft setup?

“shim three spots with tape” yeah that’s me but with like 6 spots and a whole roll of tape because my board sounds like a cracked egg without it. honestly i get the flex hype but i’m one stripped standoff away from throwing my gasket board in a drawer and going back to my dumb stiff tray mount that just works.

Man, that hits close to home. A buddy of mine spent a whole weekend chasing the perfect flex, then his daughter knocked the board off the desk and the gasket came out like a flattened spaghetti noodle, never sounded right again.
