Paid $200 for a credit repair service and got nothing but headaches

I signed up with a credit repair company back in March because my score was sitting around 580 and I couldn't get approved for anything. They promised they could bump it up 100 points in 90 days. After three months and $200 paid out, all they did was send dispute letters that got denied immediately. I could have written those letters myself for the cost of a stamp. The whole thing felt like they were just going through the motions without actually looking at my specific reports. Has anyone else gotten burned by one of these services or found a legit way to fix errors on their own?

Gotta be honest, I see it differently. I tried one of those services once and realized they literally just file the same generic disputes you could do yourself in 10 minutes on Credit Karma. Idk, maybe it's just me but pulling your own reports from AnnualCreditReport.com and googling sample dispute letters feels way more worth your time.

Wait, hold up - "10 minutes on Credit Karma"? @skyler_white, I thought those services were way more involved than that, like legit digging into stuff.
