I finally got my free annual report from the site in the mall kiosk
I mean, the guy there said it was a 'soft check' but my Experian dropped 8 points the next week. Has anyone else had a credit check happen at one of those places?

Happened to me last year at the same kind of kiosk. They absolutely ran a hard inquiry, which is a full credit check. I had to call Experian directly to dispute it and get it removed from my report. Took about two weeks of back and forth, but they finally took it off. Never trust anyone who says it's just a soft pull.

Used to believe those kiosk checks were harmless. Your story about the hard pull and having to fight Experian really changed my view.
