Can we talk about the day a collections rep actually helped me?

So back in 2021 I had this old medical bill from a ER visit in Tulsa that I totally forgot about. It hit my credit as a $480 collections account and my score tanked about 60 points. I called the agency expecting the usual runaround, but this one rep, guy named Mike, spent 20 minutes on the phone walking me through a pay for delete letter. He even told me exactly what to write and who to send it to. I thought it was a trap honestly. I did it, paid the $480, and the account came off my report in like 3 weeks. Score bounced back. Has anyone else had a collections rep actually give real advice instead of just trying to get you to pay? Or was I just stupid lucky?
