Writing prompts used to live in my head, now they're dumped into a voice memo app

Back in high school I would sit in my room with a physical journal and just stare at a blank page until something clicked. I remember filling up maybe 15 pages a month with random ideas, half of them were garbage but the act of writing them down made them real. Now I just grab my phone in the parking lot of a grocery store in Fresno and record a 90 second ramble about a prompt while I'm unloading bags. The change happened around 2022 when I started losing little scraps of paper with ideas written on them, I must have lost 20 prompts a week back then. Voice notes work better for me because I can talk faster than I write, but I miss the feeling of crossing out lines and redrawing connections between concepts. The other day I transcribed three months of voice memos and found this gem about a librarian who discovers a book that writes itself, which I totally forgot I thought of. Does anyone else have a weird shift like this, or are you still loyal to paper for your prompt collection? I'm curious if the medium actually changes the kinds of ideas people come up with.
