TIL the scribbles in a museum guest book in Santa Fe gave me 30 prompt ideas in one afternoon
I was killing time at a small art museum in Santa Fe last month while my wife looked at pottery, and I sat down next to this guest book by the exit. It wasn't a normal sign in book, people had left these weird little one line stories and confessions. One page had "I still keep my ex's dog's name in my phone as Do Not Answer." Another said "I have driven past my childhood house 11 times without stopping." I started copying the good ones into my notes app and ended up with about 30 lines before she came to get me. The wild part is these aren't even prompts yet, they are just seeds, but each one has a whole person behind it with a reason. I have been stuck on my own prompt lists for months and this random book did more for me than any prompt site. So here is my ask: where do you all go hunting for raw material like this? I want places with real people in them, not another list of 100 fantasy prompts.
