My grandpa swore by planting tomatoes sideways in a trench...
He told me to bury the stem deep so more roots would grow off it. I thought he was crazy but tried it with 6 plants last April and they were the only ones that survived a dry June. Has anyone else actually done this or was my grandpa just lucky?

Did you water them any different from the other plants, or was it all the same?
