my carrots look like alien fingers but taste AMAZING
I was pulling carrots from my raised bed in zone 7a last week and they all came out twisted and forked like something from a sci-fi movie. Turns out my soil was full of little rocks I didn't screen out, so the roots kept splitting trying to grow around them. Has anyone else had carrot harvests that look weird but still taste sweet?

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head! I planted a batch of Danvers half long carrots a couple years back and they came out looking like some kind of mutant octopus. Forked every which way, some even doubled back on themselves. I was so disappointed until I actually tried one. Sweet as can be, maybe even sweeter than the perfect store-bought ones. Turns out the rocks in my soil did the same thing to me. I find the ugly ones are always the most flavorful.
