Dug up my carrots yesterday and half of them looked like tangled octopus legs
I pulled these mutant carrots from my community garden plot in Portland after 10 weeks of waiting and they tasted sweeter than any straight ones from the store, anyone else notice ugly veggies actually pack more flavor?

Isn't it funny how the things that look the most messed up often turn out to be the best ones in life?

Hold on, are we sure about that? I've definitely bought some gnarly looking produce that was just as bland and sad as the pretty stuff, honestly. Maybe sometimes a messed up thing is just... messed up.

Right?! I used to be all about picking the prettiest veggies at the store, thinking they were the best. But then I grew some twisted, knobby beets that looked like alien artifacts, and they were way more earthy and sweet than any perfect round ones I've bought. Totally changed my mind on what "good" produce looks like.
