I finally got the discovery request handled, but it took 7 weeks for one email thread
Everyone says e-discovery is the worst part of corporate litigation, and I used to think that was just lazy talk. Back in March we got a request for all internal emails about a vendor deal, and our IT guy pulled 14,000 messages from a server in Columbus. My paralegal and I spent 7 weeks sorting through them because half the chain was just people saying 'sounds good' or 'let's circle back.' I kept thinking we could just hand over everything, but our outside counsel said no, we had to tag relevance one by one. Has anyone else had a request that looked simple on paper but turned into a full-time job?
