Vent: spent 3 hours debunking a flat earth video for my uncle and he just said the moon landing was fake too
My uncle sent me a 40 minute YouTube video on Sunday claiming the earth is flat because water always finds its level, and I actually took the bait and wrote out a whole response with the Bedford Level experiment and why it was flawed. I sent him links, I drew a diagram on a napkin at his kitchen table in Tacoma, I even pulled up the Foucault pendulum footage. He nodded the whole time and then said 'well if they faked the moon landing they could fake all that too.' I just sat there realizing I had wasted my entire afternoon arguing with a wall. Has anyone actually gotten through to a family member on this stuff, or do you just learn to change the subject?
