My uncle's weather radio advice: smart or superstition after that June tornado?
Back in 2015, my uncle Bill insisted I buy a battery-powered weather radio for our cabin near Waco, even though my phone had alerts. I laughed it off until June 12th when a tornado warning hit at 2 AM and my phone lost signal entirely. The radio picked up the siren tone and gave us ten minutes to get to the closet. Now I'm wondering: was that just luck, or is old-school gear really more reliable than modern tech in a crunch? Has anyone else had a family member's outdated advice actually pay off big?

Did your phone totally die on you too, or was it just the signal dropping?
