A finisher in Tulsa showed me how to edge a slab with a worn trowel, and it fixed my rough edges
I was pouring a 12x20 shop slab in Tulsa last month and had the worst chipping along the edges, so a guy on the crew grabbed his old beat-up trowel and ran it along the edge before the cream set up. Now I keep one broken-in trowel just for that, does anyone else keep a certain tool around only for edges?
Used to toss my old trowels once the edges rounded over. Figured they were junk and I needed a fresh one for the finish work. Then a guy showed me how that worn edge glides along a slab without digging in, and now I hunt for them at flea markets. Have one with a handle wrapped in duct tape that only comes out for edges. Would not trade it for a brand new one.
