The $60 paper filter gamble that nearly ruined my batch
I bought this fancy reusable cloth filter from a local shop in Portland for 60 bucks, thinking it would give me that marketed 'silky smooth' cold brew. First use, it clogged halfway through the steep, and I ended up with a jug of gritty sludge that took 2 hours to strain through a regular mesh. The cloth also held onto coffee oils so bad that my next batch tasted like stale leftovers, even after boiling it. I went back to my $8 pack of paper filters the same week. Has anyone else tried these overpriced cloth setups, or am I just cursed with bad luck?
