Dropped $47 on a cold brew tower and it just makes watery coffee

I bought a cold brew drip tower off a guy on Facebook Marketplace 3 weeks ago for 47 bucks. He swore it made the smoothest cup he ever had, but mine comes out weak and tastes like wet cardboard no matter what beans or grind I use. I've burned through almost a pound of beans trying to dial it in with no luck. Am I doing something wrong with the drip rate, or did I just get taken?
