TIL that fixing a buddy's script made me think about credit in coding

I tweaked a friend's Python homework and now they're handing it in without mentioning my help, which feels wrong but I don't want to cause drama.

I heard on a coding podcast last week that giving credit for help is really important. They said even small fixes should be noted, because it builds trust and shows who did what. In your case, your buddy should at least mention your tweaks, especially for homework where learning is key. But I get not wanting to start a fight over it... it's tricky with friends. Maybe next time, set ground rules before helping, so everyone knows what's expected. Still, feels off when someone takes full credit for your work...

My roommate had this exact thing happen last semester. He helped his lab partner debug a whole section of their physics simulation code. The partner then presented the final project like it was all his own work, didn't mention my friend once. It totally changed their friendship, made everything super awkward. They don't really talk anymore. It's wild how something that seems small can really mess up trust.

Group projects in school were always a mess with credit. One guy would do nothing but talk like he built the whole thing. Makes you wanna avoid teaming up again, for sure.
