Saw a stat that home energy use is only 20% of US emissions, and I can't stop thinking about it
I was reading a Dept of Energy page last Tuesday and it said homes make up about 20% of US greenhouse gas emissions. That surprised me, because I always figured cars and factories were the big thing and my house was small potatoes. So now I'm stuck: do I spend $3,000 on a heat pump and insulation, or just vote and push for grid changes since that's where most of the rest comes from? I'm not sure individual stuff matters much if the power plant is still burning coal. Where do you all land on this, personal action or system change first?
