Our block started a compost pickup 6 months ago and I finally checked the numbers
Six months ago me and 8 neighbors on Sycamore Street in Fort Wayne pitched in $12 each for a shared compost bin that gets picked up every other week. I finally weighed our kitchen scraps last month and we kept 84 pounds out of the landfill, which honestly surprised me more than it should have. The part nobody mentioned is how fast a shared bin fills up when three families are all dumping squash guts in October. Curious if anyone here has run a neighborhood compost thing and how you split the cost when one house barely uses it?
