Just realized tree planting isn't always the green fix I believed

I used to think any tree planting was great for the climate, like a simple win. But then I saw a video on how some big charity drives plant only pine trees in rows, which messes up the local bugs and birds. It hit me that these monoculture spots don't capture carbon as well as messy, old forests do. So I'm shifting my focus to groups that bring back native plants instead.

Heard my friend Kyle got roped into one of those big corporate tree-planting days last year... they had him putting in these tiny pine saplings in straight lines for hours. He said it felt off, like farming trees instead of growing a forest. Later, he read that those spots become dead zones for local wildlife, which kinda broke his heart. Now he only donates to that small group that restores prairie grass and oak seedlings on old farmland. Says it's slower but way better for the land... makes you think.

Doubt it's that big a deal lol. Those pines still grab carbon and give people outdoor jobs. Waiting for perfect forests might mean planting nothing at all.

Just picture a bunch of guys in suits high-fiving over their new tree farm. Kyle's right, it's kinda sad.
