Found a cap nail trick that saved my back last Thursday

Been doing chimney caps for 8 years now. Last week I had a steep roof job in Medford and my usual method meant kneeling on the shingles way too long. Someone told me to pre-drill the cap corners and use a magnetic bit holder with a 3 inch extension. Worked way better than I expected. Got the whole cap done in 20 minutes instead of an hour. Anyone else got tricks for working on steep pitches without wrecking your knees?

Wish I'd known this a few years ago, man. My knees are shot from exactly this kind of work, and I've got a steep roof job coming up next week that I've been dreading. Pre-drilling sounds obvious now that you say it, but I never thought to pair it with a longer bit holder to save the angle. I'm definitely stealing this trick for my next cap install. It's the little things like this that keep you working past 50 without needing surgery. Thanks for sharing, seriously.
