Just saw something at the new 'Farm Fresh' spot in Seattle that made me cringe

They had their mise en place for the whole day sitting out on the line, no ice or refrigeration, for what looked like hours. How do you even handle that kind of cross-contamination risk?

My buddy got so sick from a place doing that last summer.

Ugh, that's awful. I read a whole article about how common that actually is. They said a lot of places cut corners on cleaning the lines to save time and money. The gunk that builds up can grow some really nasty bacteria. Your friend is definitely not alone in that. It just makes you not want to order a drink anywhere.
