Bought a $30 microplane after years of laughing at them, now I get it
I used to think those tiny graters were a waste of drawer space, I mean who needs a special tool for zest? Then last month I did a citrus-heavy prep for a 40-cover tasting menu and tried the microplane out of pure frustration with my box grater. The difference in texture and how the oils released was night and day, and it took me half the time. Is there any other single-purpose tool you guys were forced into using that you now can't live without?

Three weeks ago I swore I'd never buy a garlic press, called it a pointless gadget for people with weak wrists. Then my mom left hers here and I used it for a 6 clove batch of sauce and now I'm trying to figure out how to fit it into my daily cooking without looking like a hypocrite. Same exact energy as your microplane story, once you try the good tool there's no going back.
