Dunked a bowl of plain Cheerios in warm milk by mistake and it fixed my mornings
I always pour cold milk over plain Cheerios and the leftover stuff at the bottom tastes like nothing, just gray water with a hint of cardboard. A buddy from my old job in Toledo told me to nuke the milk for 30 seconds before pouring it, and I figured he was messing with me. Tried it on a Tuesday with about a cup and a half of milk, and the leftover sip was a totally different thing, sweeter, thicker, almost like the cereal gave up more of itself. Cold milk seems to lock the oat flavor in the rings, but warm milk pulls it out and leaves it sitting in the bowl. I tested it 5 mornings straight, same bowl, same spoon, and the warm version won every single time. The weird part is the cereal itself gets a little softer faster, so you have to eat quick. Anyone else mess with milk temp, or am I the only one heating up my breakfast like a maniac?
