Appreciation post: the chainmail scrubber that ended my 3-day rust saga
My 12-inch pan sat in the sink too long after chili, and I spent 3 evenings scrubbing with regular steel wool only to watch rust come back. Picked up a cheap chainmail scrubber at the hardware store in Portland for $14 and it stripped everything off in under 10 minutes. Anyone else have a tool that made you feel dumb for not buying it sooner?

under 10 minutes" is the part I keep coming back to... because my chainmail experience was the complete opposite. I got one after hearing all the hype, and it took me almost half an hour to get a stuck-on egg mess off my carbon steel pan. The rings kept catching on the rough spots and I ended up scratching the surface way worse than my old steel wool ever did. Maybe your chili was just looser than my egg situation, but I honestly felt like the whole thing was overrated for the money.
