Changed my mind about playing cassettes in the car

I always figured leaving cassettes in the car during summer was just asking for trouble... warped tapes, stretched out reels, all that. But last July I forgot a mix I made in my glovebox for a whole week. When I popped it in, I expected this warbly mess, but it actually sounded fine. The low humidity maybe helped? Or my car just doesn't get hot enough back there. Now I keep a couple tapes in the car all the time, it's just way more convenient. Anyone else had tapes survive a heatwave that should have ruined them?

Yeah I've had the same thing happen with a cassette I forgot in my truck during a heatwave. I think it depends on the quality of the tape and how hot it actually gets inside. My dad always said the real killer is direct sunlight not just the heat.

idk, @nina180, sunlight exposure definitely speeds up the damage way more than just heat alone though.
