Always thought Type II tapes were overhyped until I found a sealed Sony UX at a garage sale for $2

I mean, I've been collecting cassettes for about 5 years now and mostly stuck with Type I ferrics because they're cheap and everywhere. But last month I grabbed this 90 minute Sony UX from some lady's basement stack. Popped it in my deck to record a Cure album off vinyl and the clarity on the high end was insane. No hiss at all. Now I'm kicking myself for ignoring premium tapes this whole time. Anyone else have a moment where a tape format surprised you?
