Pro tip: I used to cut my tack strips with a hacksaw before a job in a 1920s craftsman house changed my mind.

The old, brittle oak floors were a nightmare and the hacksaw was just vibrating them to pieces. Now I use a small angle grinder with a metal cutting blade, way less vibration and a cleaner cut. What's your go-to for tricky old floors?

My 1918 bungalow felt the same way.

Ugh, my grandma's place had those original floors. We'd drop anything and it would just vanish between the boards forever.

Old floors can be such a pain.
