I just read something wild about carpet weight and wear

I was flipping through an old trade magazine at a supply house in Denver and saw a stat that floored me. It said a carpet with a face weight of 40 ounces will last nearly TWICE as long as one with 28 ounces, even if the fiber type is the same. I always knew heavier was better, but I didn't think the difference was that huge. Has anyone else seen real proof of this in jobs you've gone back to years later?

That tire comparison is spot on. I mean, a cheap set might get you 20k miles but a good heavy-duty set can go 60k, it's the same idea with the carpet pile taking all the foot traffic.

Floored me" is right, it's like tires or mattresses.
