I finally tried that new knee kicker pad my buddy in Tampa swore by

I was sure it was just another gimmick, but after a tricky job last week with a tight hallway, I gave it a shot. The pad has this rubber grid that really grabs the carpet backing without tearing it. I used it on a 15 foot stretch of berber and got a perfect stretch on the first try, which never happens for me. It saved me about 20 minutes of fussing and re-kicking. Has anyone else found a tool that seemed silly but actually works great?

Wasn't there a whole thread on a flooring forum a while back about these? People were pretty split, some calling them a total waste of money. I guess the trick is the rubber grid like you said, it must grip differently than the old school pins. That's cool it worked so well on berber, that stuff can be a real pain to get right. I'm still using my old standard kicker, but you might have convinced me to give one a look next time I order supplies.

That flooring forum thread had like 300 replies, how did I miss that whole war?
