Hand plane vs power planer on 6 interior doors, no contest
I had to hang 6 solid core doors last week and my power planer kept chattering on the end grain, so I broke out my old #4 hand plane for the last two. It took maybe 15 extra minutes per door but the hinges sat FLUSH and I didn't have to sand anything. Anyone else find themselves going back to hand tools for finish work even when the power option is faster?

Well, 15 extra minutes per door adds up to an hour and a half on a six door job, that's not exactly nothing. But honestly, unless you're doing this every single week, who cares about the time? A flush hinge that doesn't need sanding is the kind of thing you notice every time you open that door, so maybe the hand plane is the real winner here.
