Update: My freelance income hit $10k in a single month for the first time

I've been doing web design on the side for about two years, and last month the total just clicked over. It mattered because I always thought you needed a big agency job to make real money in this field. That number proved I could build something myself. Has anyone else hit a financial goal that made you rethink your whole career path?

Hitting a number like that really does change your outlook. My friend was a barista for years, always talking about opening a tiny bookshop. She finally saved up and did it, and the first month she broke even on rent, she called me crying. It wasn't about the money itself, but what it meant. She proved to herself she could actually live the idea she had in her head. It sounds like you had a similar moment with your web design work.

You know, I always thought those stories were kind of cheesy. But then I got my first real payment for a logo design last year. It wasn't even that much, but seeing it clear in my bank account made something click. It stopped being a hobby I talked about and became a real thing I do. That number was proof I wasn't just fooling myself. It's a different kind of confidence.

My first big check was for a local bakery's site, $2,500. Seeing that hit my account made the whole side hustle thing feel real in a way my old office job never did.
