Got food poisoning from a dented can of chili I bought at the Grocery Outlet in Spokane
I grabbed a can of chili there about 3 weeks ago because it was marked down to 79 cents and the dent looked minor to me. Ate it over rice that night, and by 2am I was throwing up and couldn't stop for hours. My doctor said the dent can break the seal just enough for bacteria to get in even if the can looks fine. Now I check every single can for dents, rust, or bulging before it goes in my cart, even if it means putting back a good deal. Does anyone know if small dents near the rim are worse than ones in the middle, or should I just skip anything dented no matter what?
