My new $40 camp chair folded up on me like a cheap lawn ornament

Honestly, I was just sitting by the fire at Pine Grove last weekend, telling a dumb joke. I leaned back a little and the whole thing just gave out, legs buckling sideways. I ended up in a heap on the dirt with my marshmallow stick in the air. Tbh, it was so sudden I just started laughing. Has anyone else had a chair totally fail on them, and what did you replace it with?

Oh man, that's brutal but I'm glad you could laugh it off. I saw a whole thread on a camping sub about this exact thing, people calling those cheap chairs "yard sale traps" because they always fail at the worst time. Someone said their buddy's chair snapped during a trout fishing trip and he went right into the creek. My go-to now is an old second-hand REI chair I got for like twenty bucks, it's ugly but it's been solid for three seasons. You really do get what you pay for with that stuff.
